John F. Wiles

John Wiles is a long time resident of Boulder City, Nevada. John began his legal career as a defense attorney focusing on insurance defense, complex civil litigation, regulatory matters and construction defects. Today John’s practice is focused on OSHA violations, workers’ compensation, government relations and the legislative process. During the 2013 Legislative Session, John was a lobbyist for the Elevator Work Preservation Fund; during the 2015 Special Session, he lobbied for the Southern Nevada Building & Construction Trades Council.

Prior to joining the firm, John served for over 15 years as Senior Division Counsel for the State of Nevada’s Division of Industrial Relations where he prosecuted violations of Nevada’s Occupational Safety and Health Act. John was also responsible for enforcing mine safety standards under chapter 512 of NRS, the Nevada Industrial Insurance Act, and the Nevada Occupational Diseases Act.

In 1992 John was appointed by then Governor Bob Miller to act as Nevada’s first consumer advocate for (automobile) insurance customers. In this capacity, John worked with Nevada’s Insurance Commissioner to ensure insurance rates were reasonable and affordable.

John earned his Bachelor of Arts at Humboldt State University, and his Juris Doctor at McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific. Prior to going to law school John worked as a Journeyman Carpenter in Nevada and California.
