Matthew W. Smith

Matt is an associate attorney whose practice focuses on the defense of workers’ compensation claims, administrative hearings, and subrogation litigation. Matt represents insurers, third-party administrators, and self-insured entities through all stages of the workers’ compensation process, including Petitions for Judicial Review in Nevada State Courts. He also provides statutory compliance guidance prior to and during litigation.

Matt represents clients in subrogation actions in Nevada State Court and has successfully assisted clients in recovering their full workers’ compensation liens. He has experience in insurance defense litigation ranging from premises liability claims, transportation related claims, and product liability claims.

Matt is licensed to practice in Nevada and Arizona. He has volunteered in a number of organizations, including the Arizona Law Community Service Board, the Tucson Immigrant Workers’ Project, and the Volunteer Lawyers Program – Bankruptcy Clinic.

Matthew graduated from Utah Valley University with a Bachelor of Science in business management with an emphasis on international business. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Arizona, James E. Rogers College of Law. While in law school, Matthew was the Senior Managing Editor of the Arizona Journal of Environmental Law and Policy. He also worked as a Judicial Extern for the Honorable Judge Cindy K. Jorgenson in Federal District Court in Tucson, Arizona.
