Personal:
Laura Lucero is an
associate with Alverson, Taylor, Mortensen & Sanders where she maintains a
litigation practice, primarily in the defense of medical malpractice, elder
abuse and general liability cases. As a senior associate, Laura is involved
in all aspects of the litigation process, including evaluating cases,
drafting pleadings, preparing and arguing various motions and taking and
defending depositions of clients, parties, and experts. She has successfully
argued several motions for summary judgment and motions to dismiss. She has
also negotiated dismissals and favorable settlements on behalf of her
clients.
Laura graduated from the University of Nevada,
Reno in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science. Following
graduation, she worked as a veterinary technician at a specialty animal
hospital where she oversaw and coordinated a clinical study for the FDA
approval of a new veterinary pharmaceutical.
In 2003, Laura received her Juris Doctorate from
the University of San Diego School of Law. While at USD, she was a member of
the Pro Bono Legal Advocates and participated in Moot Court competitions and
Civil Clinic. After completing her first year of law school, Laura served as
extern law clerk to the Honorable Donald M. Mosley of the Eighth Judicial
District Court of Clark County, Nevada.
Laura was admitted to practice law in California
in 2003 and in Nevada in 2004. She is licensed to practice before all courts
of the states of Nevada and California, as well as the United States
District Court, Central District of California and District of Nevada. She
is also a member of the Clark County Bar Association, Los Angeles County Bar
Association, and the American Bar Association.
